High rates of false positives.

The keyword filter is currently seeing high levels of false positives (flashing an NSFW warning for safe pages), especially for non-English languages.

It should be fixed within a couple of hours.

No-NSFW now with keyword analysis.

No-NSFW was launched as a people powered NSFW content warning system. But despite close to 200K rating requests a day, the number of votes is small (< 100 per day).

No-NSFW now uses keyword analysis along with user votes to rate a page. So pages which are not voted upon, but deemed NSFW via the keyword analysis would also be flagged.

New keywords are fed back into the data-set, so this feature would improve with time.

No-NSFW maintenance.

I’m rolling out some features to No-NSFW, so it might be up and down for a while.

The rating requests will work normally though.

Update : It’s back to normal now.

Predictably, more people use the No-NSFW at work than away.

Some numbers.

It’s been 3 days since launch, 1,866 people (or unique IPs) have installed the No-NSFW extension, and 437,500 link rating requests handled.

Of the link rating requests, 132,000 (30%) links are rated safe, around 5,500 (1%) are rated unsafe, while the remaining 300,000 (69%) unrated.

Unfortunately, only 400 votes have been cast so far.

Introducing No-NSFW, the Not-Safe-For-Work warning system.

No-NSFW is a Firefox extension, which pops up a non-intrusive rating (NSFW, SFW, unrated) for each external link that you hover on. Ratings are determined by user votes.

Currently No-NSFW works at a link-level, not domain level. However, some domains are always safe, and some are always unsafe, and the white-listing and black-listing of domains is to be added soon.

For now, the database is pretty empty, so most links would be rated “unrated”. If you wish to stop using this extension, please don’t uninstall but disable the extension (by left clicking on the magnifier and selecting “Disable”). These are very early days and the quality of the extension and the ratings are under furious development.

Once again, thanks to everyone who installed the extension.
